Magwells for 1911

The 1911's single-stack magazine and narrow lower frame mean the magazine well is narrower than on modern double-stack platforms. A magwell makes the most of that available width, chamfering and widening the opening to give the incoming magazine a larger and more forgiving target. In IPSC Single Stack and Limited 10 — where the 1911 is a standard competition choice — the magwell is a common fitting on any seriously-run gun, and pairs with a compatible base pad to close the funnel at the bottom.
